Sam clucked to her Paint horse 'Dream' so he would go into a trot. The gelding snorted and moved into a trot as they moved across the small valley toward the ruined church. Sam smiled and slowed her horse down to a stop in front of the ruins. This was one of her favorite places now a days since Chace had moved in. Here she could be alone and think without disruption.
Sam dismounted and tied Dream to the old pole sticking out of the ground. She walked up the crumbling steps and sat down in a small room with three windows letting in the blazing sun. She sighed and sat against the stone wall. She closed her eyes and smiled softly. Peace and quiet at last..

Lorne walked up to the church where he had spent countless hours staring at the sky; the cloudless, infinite heavens that made him intake breath at its beauty. It seemed so huge but comforting, nothing disturbed it, not even storms because in the end, the sky would always come back. He flopped down on the ground and remembered a bedtime song one of his foster parent's had told him. "Dear forever, let me into your light, let me hear your soundless breath, and smell your golden hair that radiates brighter than the stars..." His voice carried around him loudly, he was shouting as if calling to the sky. He jumped up and spun in a circle. "Let me into your happiness, forever, let me join you in the never." He sighed and then laughed at himself. He felt so silly now; remembering his forgotten life that would, in truth never come back.

Sam had dozed off into a light sleep when she heard some loud singing. She jerked awake, eyes wide and searching the room. No one was in there but her. She groaned and got up slowly, dusting herself off. She adjust her blue jeans and blue tank top before heading to the crumbling steps. Dream whinnied and tossed her head when she saw her owner.
Sam smiled softly and looked around. She heard the singing again and followed the voice. Sam peered around the corner and saw a guy singing. She frowned and moved toward him. Hello. She said.

Lorne did a double take when he saw the girl. He had no idea who she was. He overlaid his face with a mix of terror and horror and gasped. "O-o-oh my God!" He choked. His mouth was gaped open and his eyes were wide as if in shock. "Oh my God!" he repeated, but this time emphasized the outburst.

Sam backed up a couple of steps and raised her eyebrows in surprised at his outburst. She bit her lip and put her hands out in front of her, palms up. Hey, calm down. I'm sorry, I thought I was the only one here. She said. Sam stood her ground and kept her hands up. She hadn't meant to frighten him. She was just curious. Sam adjust her pony tail and looked around. She had put her hands down just a few seconds of go. Her blue eyes traveled back to the guy.

Lorne beamed at her reaction. He chucked. "I'm sorry. When I see some one as gorgeous as you I practically have a heart attack." He held out his hand to her and hand his other hand through his hair. "Lorne Canona; and who might you be?" His tone was soothing, exactly charming. His eyes glittered in the sunlight and glistened off his bare chest. He had just gotten back from the beach and hadn't bothered to bring a shirt along. Really what was the point of them? He would think.

Sam chuckled softly and looked at the ground in embarrassment at his reply. She looked back at him and smiled softly. She watched as he got up and she just realized that he wasn't wearing a shirt. Sam nodded and shook his hand in a firm grip. She released his hand and replied. I'm Sam Dillinger. Nice to meet you. She said and smiled. Sam adjusted her shirt and looked around. No rain today. Thank god. It usual rained just about every day off and on thanks to this island weather.

"I haven't seen you around here yet." He said. He studied her long blond hair and shimmering azure eyes. She was indeed beautiful, but not really Lorne's type. He looked over at the horse. "Is she yours? She is a beautiful one." He looked back at her not sure what to say. He wasn't good at keeping up conversations. He often preferred to converse with talkative or chatty people.

Sam followed Lorne's gaze which had traveled to Dream. A small smile appeared onto her lips when she looked at Dream. She loved that gelding. Yeah, his name is Dream. He is a really great horse. She said. Sam didn't even hear his small mistake on Dream's gender. Lots of people did that and she had grown to ignore it without any trouble what so ever. Sam looked at Lorne once more. So what are you doing up here? She asked.

"Nothing really, just escaping life. I don't come up here a lot but it is always nice. You?" Lorne asked her. His voice was pleasant and appeasing. He shifted his weight making his baggy ripped jeans relocate on his long legs. He wore no shoes and his hands were shoved in his pockets.
His hair was tossed in his face a little. It grew like grass and he had just recently cut it shorter. It seemed to have grown an inch in just a few days.

Sam nodded. She came up here to do the same every once in a while. But today was different. I see. I came up here to get away from some people and to have some quiet time to think. She said. Sam looked over him for the first time. No shirt, baggy jeans, no shoes and he seemed a bit wet. A soft smile appeared on her face. Looks like you've been swimming today. How was the water? She asked. Sam looked over to Dream who was contently grazing on the fresh green grass that seemed to be everywhere on this island.
