Chace walked slowly up towards the temple where he knew the Orphan King or Queen lived.... One day that will be mine... he thought to himself, causing his signature smirk to creep onto his lips. He ran a hand lightly through his hair, and entered the temple, taking a seat in the first hall and waiting for Sam... She wasn't expecting him, but she had to leave sooner or later. He decided that he had waited long enough, and that after almost two months on the island it was time for him to rightfully take over the throne, and he would do all within his power to have Sam sit there beside him.

Sam yawned and sat up in bed. It was around 9 in the morning, about time she got up. In fact it was way pas the usual time that she got up. She normally got up at 5 or 6 in the morning but last night she had tossed and turned with lack of sleep. She got out of bed and slipped on her black sleepers. She was wearing her blue pj pants and a white tank top with her hair up in a messy bun.
Sam walked out of the bedroom and down the hall to the kitchen. She could swipe something form there and take it to her room for a breakfast. Maybe a nice apple or something? She turned the corner and saw Chace sitting on a bench. Sam frowned and looked at him. Chace? What are you doing? She asked. Why was he here? She hadn't expected to see him. In fact she hadn't seen him since that night. Sam swallowed and shook off the thought of that night.

Chace was beginning to grow impatient, and his foot was tapping against the floor, seeming to annoy several people nearby, yet he just ignored their glares. He glanced around, half-heartedly looking for any sign of Sam, yet his twinkle of hope had been enough for his wish to come true.
She emerged around the corner wearing only her pjyamas, and a smirk crept onto his lips again. He rose from his seat, walking over to her and winking. "Well, I was just passing through. Thought I might swing by and say hi, but if you're busy, whatever, I'll just go."

Sam watched as Chace got up and walked toward. That smirk of his appeared on his lips. She never really liked that smirk. It gave him a devious look or effect. In fact he didn't need the smirk to make him seem devious, he did that all by himself by just standing there in front of you. She saw the wink and raised an eyebrow in confusion. That was different. Sam crossed her arms over her chest and listened.
No, I'm not busy. What do you need? She asked. There was just a hint of suspiciousness in her voice. What was he up to?

He raised one eyebrow at her expression and the obvious suspicion in her tone, but he let it pass. "Well, I just wanted to ask a few things about this Orphan Queen business." His voice was back to it's usual low tone. He could tell that Sam was worried about him taking over, but did he really care? If he had learnt anything whilst living on the streets it's that you have to look out for number one. He would, however, not want to rid Sam completely of her title, but to have her beside him.

Sam swallowed when he mentioned the Queen business. She did not like the sound of that. What do you want to know? She asked. Her heart picked up a bit faster beat. She didn't want to loose her spot on the throne, she had had it for so long. And she loved it so much. She liked to take care of the other orphans and make sure that nothing harmed them. It was hard work, don't get her wrong, but she liked it. She liked it a lot.
Sam wrapped her arms around her middle and swallowed once more. She was getting tired of waiting for his reply and she was getting nervous.

He shrugged lightly. "Well, what do you do for starters?" he laughed, her obvious anxiety only feeding his amusement. He shifted his weight then ran a hand through his hair, trying, and failing, to rid his face of the smirk.

Well, you take care of the other orphans and look around the island and watch what's going on. You also protect the orphans from dangerous things like cannibals or rabid animals or whatever. Plus you talk with the staff on things that you would like to see get taken care of and things like that. Sam said. She adjusted her messy bun and put her arms back where they were before she moved them. She was still a little nervous but her heart beat was back to normal. She saw how hard it was for Chace to keep the smirk from his face. It was like permanently planted there.

Chace nodded slowly as she spoke, watching as she fidgeted nervously, her hands moving from her hair to her waist... the smirk threatening to return but he had other things on his mind. "Okay, so what other priviledges do you get apart from staying in this place?" his voice was casual, and he glanced around as though he was only mildly interested in her answer, when actually this was one of his main questions.

Sam frowned slightly when she saw his eyes watching practically her every move. That was awkward. Anyway... Oh great, another question. You get to live here with really nice bedrooms, bathrooms, and food. Plus a jacuzzi which I'm sure you miss dearly if you had one before coming here. She said. Sam had a feeling that Chace had had a jacuzzi when he had parents. Stupid rich city boy. She had lived in the country on a horse ranch where she woke up at the crack of dawn and rode around the range all day taking care of cows and horses. No jacuzzi there.

Nice bedrooms, bathrooms, and food. Plus a jacuzzi... the words zoomed around his head at the speed, and he was sure his eyes must have given his thoughts away... Then something else struck him, and he frowned slightly, the brightness in his eyes fading dramatically.
"You know, I can tell what you're thinking." he said quietly, looking up into her eyes before looking down at his hands. His voice had softened, and he felt a sinking feeling in his stomach as he remembered those cold winter nights under the bridge. "I've heard you say it so many times - 'Stupid rich city boy.'" He mimicked her voice almost to perfection, grimacing slightly as he did so. "You just presume don't you. Some things that have happened to me you wouldn't believe if I told you." His last words were low, bitter, and his brows furrowed as his frown deepened.

Sam frowned slightly when he spoke to her again. She raised an eyebrow when he said that he knew what she was thinking. Her frown deepened and her eyes narrowed when Chace mimicked her voice. It's not my problem what happened to you so back off. She was really getting annoyed with him now. She really didn't care about his past life and she didn't care if he didn't want to know about hers. She didn't mind because she wasn't going to share. Why are you really here Chace? She asked and crossed her arms over her chest. She was getting tense with all this stress. Just what she needed....

Chace looked up at her, one brow raised and his mouth open slightly in surprise and annoyance. "Oh, well thanks a lot for your sympathy." The sarcasm was almost too obvious here... Chace though she might at least try to show a little bit of compassion, but everything he said seemed to lead to her anger and irritance. This girl was a puzzle to him, but a puzzle he was determined to solve. In the meantime, he was relatively pissed off with her, so said maybe just a little more loudly than needed "You know what, just forget it Sam." He turned on his heels and marched towards the door, his right hand clenching into a tight fist as he tried to inhale deeply...

Sam rolled her eyes and stalked after him. She caught up to him and grabbed his arm. You are extremely dramatic Chace. What are your really here for? She asked. Sam turned him to where he was facing her. She was getting really tired of his drama king ways. Sam sighed and leaned against the wall, putting about 10 inches in between them. She crossed her arms over her chest and stared into Chace's eyes, her gaze not wavering. She had a feeling in the pit of her stomach why he was here.
(No! Don't leave without trying to take over the throne! lol xD)

(haha okay)
"Oh, well thanks a lot!" he retorted, sighing as he felt her hand on his arm, and closing his eyes briefly before turning towards her. In a way, he was kind of glad that she had stopped him, but at the same time he didn't really want to discuss this now.... he needed time to at least think about it. He did not break her gaze as he whispered "We both know why I'm here."
