Chace hadn't slept at all.... his thoughts had been buzzing with memories of what had happened on Punishment Hill, his face blank and expressionless the whole time. As the alarm went off, he jumped, wincing as his wounds rubbed against the gauze, then looked over at Sam, returning the smile lightly. "Morning." he whispered softly.

Sam looked over at Chace when she heard him whisper. He had been laying so still so she had thought he was asleep. She smiled softly. Morning, how did you sleep? She asked. Sam slowly sat up and fixed her hair slightly. She knew it was a total mess but she didn't care. Did she care if Chace saw it? Maybe. But he had already seen a bit of her messy hair when he first arrived at the temple this morning. Oh well, she didn't care.

Chace decided to lie to Sam - he didn't want her to worry. "Fine thanks. And you?" He whispered, his voice convincing enough. He watched with a smile as she she tidied her hair, shaking his head lightly. He didn't know why she was bothering - she looked perfect already! He slowly raised himself up so that he was resting on his elbows, gritting his teeth together but hopefully not showing his pain too much. After some effort on his part, he managed to reach a seated position.

Sam gave a small nod. That was good, rest was one of the many things he needed. That's good. I've slept better last night since the last couple of nights. I guess that's a good thing. She said and smiled softly. Her smile disappeared and was replaced with a frown as she watched Chace struggle to get into a sitting position without any pain. Her frown disappeared when he finally settled. Sam touched his forehead to see if a temperature had magically appeared over night. Thankfully there was no temperature. She smiled and laid her hand in her lap. You don't have to get up now. She said.

Chace laughed lightly. "Must be something about my presence!" he said cheekily, rubbing his eyes. At her soft touch to his head, his heart leapt again, and he had to bite his lip to prevent a broad smile from appearing. He shrugged lightly. "I don't mind either way." His voice was soft, and he spoke through a smile. He didn't really just want to lay on Sam's bed like a useless lump of lard all day. He turned to look at her. "Is there anything you need assistance with today? I think I owe you."

Sam smirked and shook her head. Must be his presence. Yeah right! She looked over at him as he rubbed his eyes. She nodded slightly when Chace told her that he didn't mind getting up at this time of day. She shrugged and threw back the covers and slipped on her slippers before standing up. She stretched and turned around to face the bed and Chace. I don't think so. I really don't have anything to do today. So it's up to you on what we do today. She said. Sam smiled softly and turned on the lamp on her bedside table. It gave out a luminous glow that spread around the room. Not too bright and not too dark.

Chace smiled lightly as Sam stood and stretched. He swung his legs over the side of the bed (he had never got under the covers last night) and raised a hand to his mouth as he yawned openly. "Well, I don't really have any suggestions." he replied, stifling a yawn again. At the sudden rush of light, Chace turned to admire Sam's beauty, a smile weaving its way onto his lips once more.

That's a shame. Sam said and sighed. She looked in the mirror that hung on the wall to see how bad her hair really was. She frowned slightly when she saw all the little hairs sticking up. How embarrassing. Sam pulled out the pony tail holder and grabbed her brush. She began brushing it, letting he soft golden curls fall on her shoulders and frame her face. When she was finished she pulled back into a pony tail. Sam laid her hair brush back where it was and looked at Chace. She smiled softly.

Chace laughed lightly, raising himself to his feet, feeling rather steady as he walked over to stand beside Sam, watching intently as she tidied her hair. "It looked fine before you know!" he said, laughing again, as he ran a hand through his own hair. He stole a glance in the mirror, and sighed, raising a brow. His hair was a complete mess, and it looked sort of bed-head, but for once he didn't mind.

Sam snorted and shook her head. She looked at Chace's reflection in the mirror. She smiled and adjusted his bangs. I looked like crap before, now I look a little better. She said. Sam smiled once more and adjusted her tank top. She moved away from Chace and ran her hands up and down her arms. What were they going to do today? How have you been adjusting to the island before you had to go to punishment hill? Sam asked quietly. She stopped moving and turned to face Chace. She had only gotten a few feet away from him. Not that she wanted any distance between them because she hated him.

Chase regarded her reaction, frowning slightly. "You never look like crap!" he insisted, shaking his head in disbelief. "You're insane!" As Sam stepped away, he moved a little closer to the mirror, viewing his refelcting for a few seconds before turning away in disgust. If anyone looked like crap, it was him. The dark circles around his eyes had deepened, his hair was all over the place, his skin was pale and his cheeks were gaunt - it wasn't going well for him. He turned to Sam as she spoke, frowning slightly. "Well, to begin with it was fine. But, obviously, the last few days before punishment hill were difficult. I just wanted to get out of her, and take back to the streets." Ducking his head, he smiled lightly, half-heartedly, yet his eyes did not show this expression. "How do you do it?" he asked softly, looking up at her once more, his eyes full of admiration. He did not understand how anyone could stand to stay here for so long.... the only reason he found in himself that made him want to stay was Sam...

Sam watched as Chace looked himself over in the mirror. Apparently he didn't like what he saw. She finally saw what he was seeing. He had deep bags under his eyes and he did look like crap, but she wouldn't agree with him out loud. Sam nodded and listened to what he had to say about the island. She shrugged and walked over to him. Sam laid her hands softly on his arms and gently rested her forehead against his. She looked into Chace's eyes and smiled. It's a secret. And you should probably not lie to me about how much sleep you got last night. She whispered. Sam could tell by his luggage under his eyes that he had not slept a wink.

Chace noticed Sam's reaction to his appearance, and smirked halfheartedly. He hated looking this much of a mess... but surely it was better that he felt okay? He ran a hand through his hair, scratching the back of his neck before turning to see Sam standing right beside him. Her hands were warm on his arms, and as her face moved closer his heart began to race. He held her gaze, smiling too. She was so mysterious, and it only made him like her more, if that was at all possible. As she mentioned the sleep, he grimaced slightly, and replied "I didn't want you to worry about me."

Sam shook her head when Chace said that. it was just like him. She looked into his eyes and smiled softly. She was worried about him. Worried ever since he stepped foot into the temple looking like crap. Too late. She whispered. Sam kissed his cheek and blushed softly. She waited for the blush to leave her cheek before laying her forehead back on Chace's.

Chace frowned slightly as she admitted her concern. He felt awful for making her worried.... he was so used to being alone that he wasn't used to it.... it just seemed so wrong to him that someone he hardly knew should have so much concern for him. Yet his frown faded as Sam's lips brushed his cheek. His heart thumped hard in his chest - he was worried it was so loud that it was audible!! As her cheeks flushed, Chace smiled - she looked so beautiful with colour in her cheeks.
Though he could easily have leaned in and kissed her back, he decided not to - he didn't want her to think that was all he was interested in. Instead, he moved his hand forwards and found hers, closing around it gently as his fingers stroked her palm lightly. "Well you shouldn't worry about me. I can take care of myself usually." His own voice had become a whisper now...
