Sam had left her hair down and put a blue bandanna in her hair like the pirates used to wear their's(Like Jack Sparrow). She had just put on a pair of shorts and a tank top that matched. Nothing fancy, nothing cute. She was just wearing comfortable clothing today. Sam walked down the halls of the huge temple and out the big, thick double wooden doors. She walked through the garden and sat down on a stone bench that was sitting beside a crystal clear pond full of tropical fish.
Sam had brought a book along with her so she could enjoy the day in peace and quiet while enjoying a very good book that her friend Laura had given to her to borrow. She opened the book and began reading. It had pirates it in. Something she had grown up wanting to be or to at least meet one. So far she had met none.

Chace walked quickly up the hill and towards the temple. He had been told that this was where Sam resided, and hoped that he could find her there. He wore surfing short and leather sandals - no shirt as usual in such warm weather. His iPod headphones hung from one ear, as his favourite playlist ran around his head.
Reaching the top, he spotted Sam seated beside a crystal clear pond. She was deeply engrossed in a book which, by the front cover, he could tell from a distance was bout pirates. "Good book?" he asked, his voice back to its usual low tone as he ran a hand through his hair.

Sam had had her attention focused on the book too much because she didn't even hear Chace approaching. She jumped slightly and looked up. Yes. What are you doing here? She asked. Sam swallowed and looked at what he was wearing. No shirt. Nice abs. Big whoop. She sat a bit straighter and looked Chace in the eyes, waiting for an answer.
Just yesterday she had looked at his file and he was 18 and 1/2 years old. A year and 6 months older than her. Old enough to be king and older than anyone else on the island. She hoped he hadn't learned anything about be king other wise she could be screwed. Her little queen role would be pulled out from under her. All four years of it.

Chace smirked at her surprise, then walked a little closer, lowering himself to the ground and lounging on the grass. "You know, just walking around trying to figure this place out. You?" he said casually, though this was not the true reason...
He broke her eye contact purposefully, pretending to gaze around, interested at his surroundings. He ran a hand through his hand and lay back, the muscles in his chest rippling in the bright sunlight. He closed his eyes, and tapped his hand against his thigh along to the beat of his music.

Sam frowned when Chace lowered himself to the grass. Great, he was planning on staying for a while. Reading obviously. Nothing else to do. She said. Sam closed her book and sat it on the bench beside her. She raised an eyebrow when she noticed the ear phones coming from his ear and connecting to a fancy looking ipod. She smirked and shook her head.
That wouldn't last long without electricity to charge it. Oh well. It wasn't her problem it was his. But why are you here of all places. There are lots of other places that are cooler than this temple. She said. Sam swallowed and leaned back a little, resting both palms on the bench behind her so she wouldn't fall over.

"Okay, no need to bit my head off." he smirked, eyes still closed. He could sense her irritation, and had to restrain a laugh.
"Why, am I not allowed up here?" he laughed, raising himself onto his elbows and opening his eyes. This was going to be much harder than he thought. "Well, it looked like a good sun trap. I figured while I'm here I may as well catch some rays." He shrugged a little, then once again lay back on the grass, his hand tapping away again.

Sam's jaw tightened. He was really getting on her nerves. Don't run you're battery down city boy, there's no electricity to charge it back up and there isn't any batteries either. She said and smirked. Sam looked around the garden before answering his comments. The old church is a great place for catching some rays and oh have you tried the beach? She asked. Her words were dripping with sarcasm.
Sam stood up and picked her book up. She would go somewhere else if she had to. She walked passed Chace and muttered: Stupid city boy. Sam frowned and held her head high as she walked along the path. Peace and quiet. Peace and quiet. No boys aloud. But for some reason she had a feeling that her wishes would not be granted.

Chace's head snapped round to her. "You are kidding me, right?" he asked, his tone deathly serious. His iPod, his straighteners, his mobile... it was pointless bringing all that along if there was no stupid electricity. He raised one eyebrow at her sarcasm, then relaxed slightly. Maybe she was just teasing him.... yeah, that's probably right.
As Sam rose to her feet, so did Chace. He followed after her, keeping his distance, yet still following. "So, Miss Queen," he teased, smirking to himself, "What is there to do around here?"

Sam didn't even hear his surprised and somewhat whiny reaction. She adjusted her bandanna and continued walking along. Peace and quiet. Then she heard foot steps behind her. She rolled her eyes and continued to walk. Hopefully he would give up. Then Chace said it. The thing she was hoping that he would never care about. Miss Queen.
Sam swallowed and stopped walking abruptly. She turned to face him, frowning. Who told you!? She asked. Of course it wasn't a big secret, he would find out in an hour or two tops. But so quickly? It was like he knew right when he reached the island. Then she remembered. The little boy in the village. Crap.

Chace continued following, stopping at the same time she did. Her frown only made him smirk more. "I heard a kid say it on my first day here. So what did you do to deserve your royal title?" He said the final sentence in a proper English accent, smirking as he did so. "Why do they call you that, I mean is it like a nickname or something?"

Sam hated his smirk. She hated everything about him right at this moment. All because of how old his was. He was younger then maybe she would like him better, but he wasn't. I got the title because I am the oldest Orphan on the island. No, it's not a nickname, it's my job. She said. Sam put some emphasis on the word 'job'.
It was probably something new to him so she tried to make it stand out more. Sam crossed her arms over her chest, still holding her book. Why are you so interested about it? I doubt it's because you're new and just curious. She said, eyes narrowing. He knows... She thought. A wave of panic hit her. Did he? Probably. Some other orphan probably blabbed to him because he was new.

Sam raised his eyebrows, the smirk playing on his lips again. "So you rule the whole island, just because you're the oldest? Next time at least make the story more believable." He laughed, and ran a hand through his hair. She was so irritated by him, yet this irritation seemed to feed his own cheekiness.
"Well, I was just trying to make conversation. Sorry I guess.... How old are you anyway?" he asked, no longer feigning his curiosity. Her face suddenly looked panicked, and he raised on brow in question before shaking his head and smirking to himself.

Sam swallowed and nodded slightly. That and other things. Obviously he didn't know a thing about the role besides 'ruling' things. Something he probably already did. With his parents. She bet that he got whatever he wanted when they were still around. Her heart began to beat faster when he asked how old she was.
17 years old. She whispered. There! She said it! The word was out, she wasn't the oldest anymore. Sam would probably loose her job to some snobby, flirty, city boy. Just because he was a year and 6 months older! She swallowed and looked at the ground. Four years and she could already feel it drifting away.

Chace shook his head, confused, yet laughing under his breath. "Seventeen... interesting." he murmured. So technically, he could be king.... king of the island, he smiled at the thought...
But the only queen Sam reminded him of was prom queen. "You know, it actually seems pretty lame to me. It's just like what, being class president? Big wow." And with that, he walked straight past her, back down the hill, knowing full well that she would follow...

Sam frowned and watched as Chace thought over her answer. She could see the thought on his face. He wouldn't... She frowned and watched as he walked past her. Sam huffed and followed behind him quickly. You think it's just a game! It isn't! There are cannibals and other dangerous things on this island that I have to protect you and the other orphans from all the time. There is no throne room or chair or crown. Only the temple and I'm not the only one who lives there. She said.
Sam walked alongside him. She would look at Chace and then in front of her every once in a while so she wouldn't trip over anything. She frowned and stepped in front of Chace. Which was a big mistake. Sam was only meaning to stop him so she could talk to him but she felt herself falling onto her back. The air was knocked out of her. Sam's gasped and struggled to take in a breath and relax at the same time.
