Sam chuckled and shook her head lightly, her curls bouncing. She turned to face Chace to see his reaction when they entered the room. She smiled with satisfaction. Just the reaction she wanted. This place was too great to get a horrible reaction when eyes are first set upon it. Yes it is. Sam whispered. She released Chace's hand and walked over to the window. She leaned her elbows against the crumbling sill and looked around the meadow that surrounded the ruins. She smiled, such a wonderful place.

As Sam walked over to the window, Chace remained rooted to the spot for a moment, taking in what he saw. His eyes were still wide as he follwed Sam, to stand beside her, gazing out of the window. "You know, this place isn't nearly as bad as I first thought." he said quietly, his eyes shifting to Sam's face for a moment before resting out the window once more. Maybe that's just because of you... he though to himself, smiling lightly.

Sam watched as some birds squawked loudly and flew across the sky above the meadow. She turned her head to look at Chace when he came to stand beside her at the window. She smiled softly when he talked about the quality of being here on the island. Sam nodded softly. She could see how hard it could be to be thrust onto a boat and shipped off to some tropical island. That had happened to her too, when the island first opened. Besides the view and such it really did suck for the new orphans.

Chace jumped slightly as he heard the birds, then laughed lightly at himself for doing so. It was odd to think that 24 hours ago he was on Punishment Hill, hating his very existence, when now he felt as light as air thanks to Sam. He turned to look at her again, taking in every tiny detail - he never wanted to forget her large sparkling eyes, her soft smile as she looked out onto the island, the way her hair moved in the breeze. He sighed to himself, brushing a stray lock of her hair from off her face.

Sam had been staring off into space. Or thinking or daydreaming, whatever you want to call it, that was what she was doing. She swallowed and remembered back when she had first arrived at the island. Twelve years old and scared. Terrified of the animals at night and wondering what would happen next. Just then something brushed a lock of hair from her face and it shattered her thoughts. When Sam realized Chace had done it she smiled and looked at him.

Sam was obviously taken by surprise as he shifted some her hair, so he murmured "Sorry" softly before smiling back at her. He was about to turn to gaze out onto the island once more, before he remembered Sam's long silence. "What were you thinking about?" he asked softly, smiling a little, but not wanting her to feel as though she had to answer if she didn't want to.

Sam smiled softly when Chace apologized. he didn't need to, nothing to be sorry about. She turned to look out at the window when he asked a question. Sam frowned for a moment, pondering. Should she tell him? Well, she didn't have to tell him everything, just a little. Oh, I was just thinking about when I first arrived at the island. No biggie. Sam said and smiled, looking at Chace.

Chace listened carefully to her reply, thinking there was some sort of deeper meaning to her words, yet he didn't press the matter any further. "So you've been here for four years, right?" he asked, softly still, taking her hand in his and massaged the small circles, as he had done a while before. He smiled lightly, his own mind thinking back to his own arrival. HAd he really changed that much since then...

Sam couldn't help but smile when Chace began massaging circles on her palm. She swallowed and tilted her head to the side and thought about his question. A little longer, I came here at twelve like a year or two after the island first opened. She said. Sam looked at Chace and smiled softly. She then returned her gaze to the window.

Chace's brows rose a little, before he said quietly "That must have been hard for you, being so young and all." He himself couldn't imagine being somewhere so vast and unfamiliar at age 12... he was happy when he was that age.... his problems had only begun when he was 15, and still he had had to grow up fast... he frowned a little, as his gaze moved back to the window.

Sam looked at Chace and nodded. Yeah, it had been hard. Extremely hard. She looked away as she began thinking again. One of the things that stuck out the most was the hot days where she worked and then the cold nights that made her shiver under her blanket. Sam blinked and that gesture brought her from her thoughts. She put on a smile and looked at Chace. What do you want to do now? She asked.

Chace had noticed Sam's expression, the way her body tensed involuntarily - she was obviously remembering something unpleasant.... which he wouldn't question her about. It wouldn't be right. He frowned a little at her smile, then reluctantly brought one to his own lips. "You decide." he said simply, stroking her hand once again.

Sam's smile faltered a little when she saw Chace's frown. But when he smiled back her smile brightened once more. She lowered her gaze to look at his thumbs as he massaged her palm. She smiled and looked at Chace's face again. Sam rolled her eyes when he asked her to decide. She shook her head and smirked. No, it's your turn. She said.

Chase rolled his eyes at her response, though it was expected. "Hmm... " he frowned a little as he tried to think of something. "Wait, I know." He pulled her by the hand out the church, down the steps, back through the forest. He then stopped, and whispered "Do you trust me?"

Sam giggled when Chace rolled his at her reply. She smirked once more knowing that he would that. She raised her eyebrows in curiosity when he actually came up with something. She was all ears. Sam let him pull her out of the church and down the steps. She frowned slightly when they stopped in the forest. Her frown faded when Chace asked if she trusted him. Yes. Sam whispered back.
